MORE TEMPER TRAP

You know it was a good night because we felt brave enough to end it with "Pizza Americana". Yes, this is a pizza with french fries on top. I know some of you may be gagging in disgust while others are secretly wishing that the US made this kind of schifezza that catters to every human's secret inner desires. Let me just tell you that once upon a time I sneered and poked fun at this wonder of a pizza. Now I am completely under it's spell. I admit that it is not a pizza for all times or situations, it has to be consumed under special circumstances. But when you do gobble it up in the right situation it is pure fatty heaven.

The TEMPER TRAP

And then the big boys came on to play
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from them, but
certainly not the mind blowing performance we got!The lead singer Dougy Mandagi was just so cool and charasmatic. Plus he had sick little dance moves that popped up now and then. He was never boring to watch.
As you can tell the bass player was pretty cool as well. He was always moving somewhere are shaking something. I also loved his polka dot dress shirt.

I forgot to mention, we were RIGHT up close to the stage. We only had one person between us and the gate keeping the crowd away from the equipment. I think the one person in front of us was pretty annoyed at how loud and excited we were, but who could blame us?

The Kissaway Trail

Wednesday night June 16th 2010
this gang went to see The Temper Trap play in Milano
life changing concertThe show was opened by a pretty cool Danish group called The Kissaway Trail

The best part of the group was definitely the tambourine man. He was SO full of sass and energy, it was truly incredible. I took a ton of videos but unfortunately the static is really ear shattering.
Please notice the enthusiasm of Mr. Tambourine in the picture bellow. Magical.

More Bussana Vecchia

no words for this kind of ancient bellezza

Bussana Vecchia

On Sunday P took me to a little 1,000 year old ghost town called Bussana Vecchia. It is my absolute favorite place in Italy. In 1887 there was a huge earthquake that killed more than 2000 people and ruined most of the town. The survivors decided to rebuild further down the hill and left the old town deserted. In the 1960's a group of artists moved into the ghost town and they are still there to this day. They use it as a place to create, showcase, sell art, and live simply while keeping the old ruins intact.
View from the road leading to Bussana Vecchia
The old church. This picture does the place no justice, if you ever have any chance to go see Bussana please do, it is breathtaking.
P amongst ruins
P amongst ruins and sun beams.
Me in a stupor. Too much beauty does that to a person.

I=lame

I have been absent for far too long, I know, and I am truly sorry. If it consoles anyone, know that in my absence I wrote a kick ass term paper which earned me my first 30/30 at the University of Pavia AND I explored more of Liguria and have decided I am going to live there at one point in my life.

My caro amico P, and future husband(he doesn't know that part yet so keep it on the DL) has been inviting me to spend a weekend at his family's house for months now but something always gets in the way. We magically managed to clear this last weekend, so we headed on over in train. He lives in a small town near San Remo called St Stefano al Mare. This is a picture of St. Stefano from a town higher up in the hills called Pompeiana.
Artsy picture of me and P in Pompeaina.

Another view from Pompeaina!
The D'Alo bros going crazy with the zucchero filato(warning, these boys will be making their Californian debut in August, expect photos)
